Algeria’s goalball comeback secures a London 2012 place

Algeria’s men secured qualification for London 2012 by winning the Africa Oceania Goalball Regional Championships at Sydney Olympic Park. The IPC reported a dramatic 5–4 final victory over Australia on 17 November 2011. Trailing 4–0 at half-time, Algeria prevented further Australian scoring, levelled before the end of regulation and struck early in extra time. The result placed the national team among the confirmed participants in the following year’s Paralympic goalball tournament.
