Brazzaville offers a continental stage for athletics and powerlifting

Brazzaville hosted athletics and powerlifting competition during the 2015 African Games, providing athletes with ranking and qualification opportunities ahead of Rio 2016. The IPC reported nearly 400 Para athletes across the two sports during 14–18 September, including around 100 powerlifters. Classification was offered before competition and used by several NPCs. The report recognised the organising and technical support behind the programme, documenting the Republic of Congo’s hosting role rather than assigning visiting athletes’ medals to the host nation.
