Ghanaian sprinter Amos Ahiagah was building his athletics career while working as a barber and supporting his family. In a March 2023 IPC feature, the 19-year-old described training five days a week and competing in regional events and national sports festivals. He raced over 100m, 200m and 400m, learned about the Paralympic Movement online and shared that knowledge with friends. His ambition was to become a Paralympic medallist for Ghana; the report presented a developing athlete’s goals, not an international medal already won.
