Luanda executive meeting sets priorities for African Paralympic cooperation

The IPC’s 2010 report records continental planning, NPC coordination and a leadership handover in Angola.

The African Paralympic Committee’s newly elected executive met in Luanda from 30 April to 1 May 2010 to define four-year priorities, according to an IPC report published on 3 May.

Planning across national committees

Led by Leonel da Rocha Pinto, the meeting reviewed African NPC activities, considered ways to strengthen leadership and competition, and explored cooperation with the Supreme Council of Sports in Africa and potential sponsors.

The IPC identified Ali Harzallah, Egypt’s Hossam Mostafa and Rwanda’s Dominique Bizimana among those involved. Its account also described a formal handover from former African Sports Confederation of Disabled President Nabil Salem to Pinto.

The contemporary report documents an organisational milestone and the priorities discussed in 2010. It provides historical context for continental cooperation without determining the committee’s present legal registration, membership or recognition status.
