ACCRA — Former Black Stars captain André Ayew has rallied behind Ghana’s national amputee football team, the Black Challenge, with a financial donation and an inspiring message of encouragement as they prepare to represent the nation at the 2026 Amputee Football World Cup in Mexico.

Visiting the team during training, Ayew brought the experience of a national captain and the solidarity of a fellow footballer. His presence affirmed a principle that belongs at the heart of Ghanaian sport: every athlete who wears the national colours deserves recognition, opportunity and the country’s support.

The amount donated has not been officially disclosed.

“I’m here to support and give you all the love and power that I can give you, and to wish you great luck. I hope that you guys will bring us a medal, but the gold will be better,” Ayew told the players.

His words set an ambitious tone for a team preparing to carry Ghana’s hopes onto the world stage. They also offered a compelling example of leadership through action—using experience, influence and personal resources to encourage others to succeed.

The Black Challenge will compete at the tournament from 13 to 22 November 2026 in San Juan de los Lagos, Mexico. Ghana have been drawn in Group D alongside Angola, Colombia and Iraq, with 24 national teams competing for the title.

As preparations intensify, Ayew’s support strengthens the growing solidarity around the team and draws attention to the value of sustained investment in athletes with disabilities.

Their World Cup campaign presents an opportunity for Ghana to celebrate sporting excellence, deepen inclusion and demonstrate that national pride embraces every athlete entrusted with the flag.

For businesses, institutions, sporting leaders and supporters, this is a moment to turn encouragement into practical support and give the Black Challenge a strong foundation to pursue their ambitions.

Ayew has added his voice and his contribution to that shared mission. As the team prepares for Mexico, the national call is clear:

One flag. One dream. Ghana stands with the Black Challenge.
