CAAF gives go ahead for amputee football competition at African Para Games

The Confederation of African Amputee Football approved preparations for its competition after a three-day facilities inspection in Accra. The visiting team examined playing surfaces, seating and spectator facilities, and met Ghana’s sports minister. The report records sport-specific readiness work alongside the broader programme reductions already announced for the Games.

The official ITF tournament record confirms that Accra’s wheelchair tennis competition ran from 6 to 10 September as an ITF 2 Series event. Alwande Sikhosana and Najwa Awane won the men’s and women’s singles respectively. Their victories earned direct Paris 2024 qualification slots through the regional Games pathway, subject to the applicable eligibility requirements.

2023 African Championships @ African Para Games

IWBF’s official event page records the final wheelchair basketball standings. Morocco finished first in the men’s competition, ahead of Algeria and Senegal; Algeria led the women’s standings, followed by South Africa and DR Congo. The same record explains that the championships selected Africa’s representatives for the 2024 repechage tournaments, rather than awarding direct Paralympic places.
