Burkina Faso prepares a national showcase across three sports

Burkina Faso planned national competitions in athletics, cycling and wheelchair basketball for 8 September 2013 in Ouaga. The IPC reported that around 128 athletes were expected, as the country sought to develop new competitors after sending two handcyclists to London 2012. A partnership with a British international-service organisation provided a 14-person team to strengthen athlete and coach capacity. The announcement presented the event as part of preparations for future international participation, including Rio 2016.
