Hassan earns London crowd’s encouragement on debut

Houssein Omar Hassan’s appearance in the men’s 1500m T46 heats provided a memorable moment for Djibouti at London 2012. The IPC’s report on 1 September described spectators standing and applauding as he continued around the track after the other runners had finished. His effort placed Djibouti within a busy day of Paralympic athletics that also featured several African medallists. The archive records the completion of his heat and the crowd’s response, without presenting the appearance as a medal result.
