Najwa Awane’s African Para Games victory featured in the IPC’s selection of memorable sporting moments of 2023. Its inclusion shows the athlete’s Accra performance gaining international attention alongside major achievements from other sports and regional competitions during the year.

The IPC article’s reference to the singles final opponent differs from the ITF record. The ITF identifies Samira Benichi as the finalist and Kafayat Omisore as the semi-final opponent.
