Kenya’s youth goalball debut creates development opportunities

Kenya entered boys’ and girls’ teams at the IBSA under-19 Goalball World Championships for the first time in July 2023. Twelve players travelled to São Paulo with government support, gaining experience of international competition. Donations of four goalballs from Brazil, the United States and Korea also created the prospect of expanding training in Kenyan schools for learners with vision impairments. Coach Stephen Ojwan’g described plans to use the equipment to build recruitment centres and prepare young players for future senior competition.
