Windhoek handcycling race opens a new sporting route

Namibia’s first official handcycling race took riders through central Windhoek in early June 2022. Mitch Dewaldt organised the approximately three-kilometre event with support from the Namibia National Paralympic Committee. Donated and previously supplied handcycles helped create a pool of ten bikes for training and participation. The IPC feature described regular use of the equipment and ambitions for further races. The initiative brought Para cycling into public view and gave participants a practical route into organised sport close to their communities.
