Osman secures another Paralympic title in Rio

Sherif Osman won the men’s up to 59kg Para powerlifting title at Rio 2016, continuing Egypt’s success on the Paralympic stage. His opening lift of 203kg secured gold, with Great Britain’s Ali Jawad taking silver and China’s Quanxi Yang bronze. The contemporary IPC report also recorded a successful additional world-record attempt. Osman’s performance formed part of a strong second day of lifting for African athletes, with Nigeria also celebrating gold through Roland Ezurike and silver through Latifat Tijani.
