Hlompho Kete’s progress in athletics brought medals for Lesotho at two editions of the Region 5 Youth Games. At the home Games in 2021, she won 800m gold and 400m silver; in 2022, she earned medals in the 100m, 200m and 400m. An IPC feature published in February 2023 described the 17-year-old’s training after school in Maseru and growing confidence as an athlete with a vision impairment. Supported by her family, she hoped her performances would bring wider recognition to Lesotho.
