IPC Competition Support Grants helped five athletes from Gambia, Guinea and Togo, alongside two coaches, attend the African Open Para Powerlifting Championships in Oran in May 2026. Gambia’s Ali Kah and Guinea’s Mamoudou Sylla entered the men’s up-to-49kg category; Guinea’s Aminata Camara entered the women’s over-88kg event. Togo’s Mazoulmani Bewi finished fifth in the women’s up-to-55kg class with 75kg, while teammate Kodjo Afeti D’Almeida also attended through the initiative. The September report described access to a major regional competition on the LA28 qualification pathway. Participation did not itself secure Paralympic qualification.
